Before writing the Relics of Mysticus series, I wanted to send an average kid on a quest where he could encounter supernatural creatures, magical trinkets and enchanted foods. That was when the idea came to me, and I created the land of Sagaas, or Land of the Gods. My characters would soon visit the various mythological realms and have many exciting escapades.
According to the Native American people, we are all guided through life by an animal totem. In The Trickster's Totem, not only can the Native Americans shape-shift into their animal guides, when in their human form, a colorful mark (depicting their animal totem) rolls around their body. But my favorite part was having Evan and Claire discover what animals guide them.
