The Blacksmith's Bride is an historical, erotic romance with spanking elements, set in the mid-nineteenth century, primarily in Texas. It tells the story of Abel Armstrong and Sunny Winslow, two people of different social classes, but living in the same small town.
Abel is attracted to Sunny when he sees her at a church picnic, but because he's so much older than Sunny (about 20 years older), he's hesitant. Sunny, on the other hand, upon meeting Abel, is instantly smitten. She knows what she wants and it's the town blacksmith.
Sunny's mother is dead set against Sunny and Abel ever getting together because of the pair's differing social status and the fact that Abel has been divorced (a scandal!), and she makes their life very difficult. Abel wants to go about convincing Sunny's mother that he's a good suitor, but Sunny -- headstrong as she is -- is determined to force the issue. There's quite a bit of conflict as Abel tries to do the right thing and Sunny goes against his judgment.
Sunny and Abel finally find their way, but it isn't easy or tidy.
This is a long novella with a happy ending.
