In this book, we return to Willow Springs and newcomer to the series, Kurt Wilcox, who is struggling to mend the bridge between him and his father. Before returning to the large ranch he left eight years ago, he stops in at a club in Billings and ends up coming to the rescue of Leslie Collins, never realizing his chivalry would lead to a one-night stand he can't forget.

The threat against Leslie that had uprooted her from her home and everyone she cared about kept her isolated from others for their protection. I found myself admiring both of my characters more and more as their heartbreaks and struggles meshed and both fought to work through them.

Both of these characters come with baggage – Leslie from witnessing and a crime that lands her in Witness Protection and Kurt from dealing with the hurt of his father's blame for his sister's death. Trying to break through the walls Leslie had erected around her proved to be as big of a challenge for Kurt as Leslie found keeping her heart safe as she submitted her body to him. As he and Leslie grow closer as Dom and sub, he discovers dealing with her secrets is more pleasurable than arguing with his father. Who knew saving Leslie, not once, but twice, would lead to not only his reconciliation with his parent, but to a future he had always thought wasn't for him?

It was quite the challenge pairing these two characters together and working out their issues to a happy HEA, which is why it took me longer than usual. Between their steamy, building and the underlying suspense I always include, I hope readers enjoy Kurt and Leslie's rollercoaster ride all the way to the truth revealing end.
