Libby Campbellabout this book: • What inspired you to write this book?
Sadie Says I Do is book 3, the completion of the Simon in Charge series. I wanted to take the story to its romantic completion: a December wedding.
• Who are the primary readers of your book?
Anyone who enjoys a sweet romance with a feisty heroine and a stern, spanky alpha hero.
• How long did it take to write it?
A couple of months. (words to paper) A year (plotting it the series). A lifetime (working up the confidence to try it)
• How did you come up with the title?
It was my publisher's suggestion. I liked the way it mirrored the first book in the series, Simon Says.
• Why did you choose this cover?
The cover art was provided by my publisher. The strong colors and bold print appealed to me.
• What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Balancing character and plot development while keeping the erotic element hot and meaningful.
• Did you do research for your book?
Yes. I researched: LEED certification on buildings, Vancouver real estate in the Golden Mile, the Downtown Eastside, cooking for two hundred people, how to walk in high heels, the keys of Kitsilano Beach, wedding licences in BC, how to care for a head wound, crash proof security gates etc, schizophrenia, etc.
• Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
No matter how much I think I know about something (eg walking in high heels), there is probably a blog somewhere that can't teach me more than I ever thought possible.
• What do you want to say to your readers?
Sadie Says I Do is intended to be a sweet romantic fantasy but not a mindless one. Sadie an empowered, opinionated protagonist who, no matter how much she loves and is willing to submit Simon's discipline, she tends to do things her way.
The moment billionaire Simon Jacobson laid eyes on Sadie Donohue, he decided he would marry her. However, there is that small matter of her agreeing to love honor and obey. She has said she will, but stipulates that she won't marry him until they have found a place to call home. She doesn't want to start married life in the penthouse where he used to take his casual lovers.
They start house hunting. While money is no object, and they find a house they love almost immediately, there is one small hiccup: the property is mired in outstanding claims. It will be months before they can take title.
Haunted by ghosts from his younger life, Simon wants to resume his life of international business travel. Sadie wants to expand her volunteer work with the homeless people of the Downtown Eastside, the poorest neighborhood in Canada.
Simon wants her to stay away from that rough part of town but she ignores his concerned warning, only to find herself across his knee for her disobedience. Will her strong-willed ways be her undoing? Or, when the marriage celebrant asks her if she agrees to love, honor and obey Simon, will she mean it when she says I do.
DThis is book 3 in the Simon in Charge series. It can be enjoyed as a standalone novel and includes that all-important HEA.
