Charles E. Yallowitzabout this book: In this dramatic addition to the Legends of Windemere series, Luke Callindor and his remaining friends are coming to grips with the betrayals and deaths during their previous adventure.
After completing their mission to escort the heir of Duke Solomon, our heroes decide to relax in the nearby town of Haven. Well, everyone is going to relax except Luke, who will have to face the family and friends he left behind. The awkward reunion is cut short when the newest ally of the Lich and Trinity attacks the town with a force of zombies. Kalam the vampiric necrocaster causes a disaster that forces Luke and Nyx to invade his deadly lair in search of the only spell that can fix things.
Meanwhile, the Lich and his allies have captured a troublesome gypsy named Sari. This cunning and playful young girl is the cornerstone to their deal with Kalam, who is looking forward to tasting her wild blood. If allowed to unite with Luke and Nyx, Sari will help to begin an ancient prophecy that has been lurking in the shadows of Windemere for millennia. She may also prove to be the biggest headache that Nyx has ever had and the only girl to match Luke's mischief-making habits.
One of my favorite parts of this book is the disaster at Haven. Without going into spoilers, the event was born from me foolishly saying it would be fun to act out in the Dungeons & Dragons game that the series is based on. I learned my lesson to keep my mouth shut and my characters have appreciated me keeping my thoughts to myself.
Legends of Windemere: Allure of the Gypsies forces the heroes to reach new levels of courage as they face their fears. Luke must face the consequences of running away from home at the worst possible moment. Nyx faces off with Kalam, whose centuries of experience and studying makes him more than a match for her natural talent. In the end, the young adventures will either take their first step into true heroism or die a painful death.
