Gordon Brewerabout this book: The first book of my Clovel Sword Chronicles focuses on an Esterblud warrior named Urith that I've come to understand. Over the course of his adventures, I've discovered his friends and enemies along with their strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, I've seen his fierce loyalty to those people who join with him against the gods of Kamin. It's an enjoyable challenge to understand the many conflicting ideas that motivate those who wish to take sides as the gods and their monsters attempt to destroy the status quo and develop a new reality for those living on Kamin.
The setting for this fantasy is the terra world of Kamin where three realms separate the spirits and a warrior culture exists among the living humans. In this violent world, warriors seek their honor and fame through their death in battle which takes them to the eternal paradise of Haligulf. Urith of Esterblud carries a fearsome and honorable reputation as the Clovel Destroyer. On his way to meet with a treacherous Sacred Overlord, the head of temple priests, he becomes shipwrecked upon a sandy beach. Urith and his nephew Oslaf find their enemies waiting, forcing them to become hunted refugees.
In his journey to complete his duty to his overlord, Urith discovers his prophecy is already predetermined. He is to seek and find a weapon of the gods. But adversaries know of the prophecy as well, and they want the power that comes from the weapon. Even the brutal gods join in the quest, creating deadly encounters for Urith and his comrades. Urith learns that honor is gone, trust is nebulous, and his opponents ruthless in the hunt for the Shield of Skool.
