Charlene Tessabout this book: The Easy Way to Teach and Learn English Grammar in 8 Simple Steps
Simple Steps to Sentence Sense quickly cuts through the confusing grammar rules found in most textbooks and shows you a logical sequence of simple steps to use for instructing the parts of a sentence.
Carefully designed, practice exercises and tests are provided with each step in the process. In addition, the “Sentence Analysis Map” or “SAM” sheet, provided at the beginning of the book, encapsulates all the steps for successful sentence analysis and can be used by students as a reference and study guide throughout the program.
When I began my teaching career, I quickly learned that the sequence in which the lessons were presented in standard textbooks was all wrong. Students were asked to analyze sentences in which verbals appeared before they had any idea what their function was in a sentence. So, I wrote my own notes, exercises, tests, and writing connection pages in a logical sequence. I carefully crafted all the sentences in the exercises and tests to ensure that no element is included until it has been introduced in the lesson notes.
Teachers have been using this book successfully since 1996, and I get positive reviews on it every day.
Here's what teachers are saying about Simple Steps to Sentence Sense:
"SSSS is the best sentence analysis resource I've ever used, hands down."
"This provides you with everything you need to thoroughly teach parts of speech. I love not having to write my own sentences!"
"This resource is a comprehensive study of sentence structure! It is a total time-saver for the busy English teacher."
If you are teaching or learning English, I know you will find this workbook helpful.
