Jane Eltonabout this book: Excerpt from your book
Lydia feels she has conquered her combative relationship with her father by leaving home for college and taking her mother with her. Instead, her mother has adjusted to years of living in a sustained and toxic milieu and rejects Lydia's offer. The two women will remain apart for more than fifty years when they are both faced with death.
"Good fortune attached itself to me for twenty-seven years with the admiration and generosity of rich successful men … and then I met Ralph Mayfield. It would take me twenty-seven years to realize that I died the day I met him."
• Write about the benefits your book offers to its readers
This story is about denouncing one's value over another's. I specifically wrote this story for young adults who might be willing to sacrifice establishing a solid foundation on which to build their future, in exchange for an 'easy' life with no 'ROI' (return on investment).
• What Inspired You to Write This Book?
Lydia has been captured by an enticing and exciting celebrity culture. All my novels center on so-called 'ordinary people,' the true heroes who make it possible for us to enjoy everyday life. History is laden with their sacrifices toward peace, love, health, education, happiness, and prosperity for all mankind. Lydia discovers late in life that she could have enjoyed a more meaningful life and contributed to a greater cause.
• What is the synopsis for this story?
Beautiful and winsome, Lydia graciously sacrifices her education in order to enjoy the luxuries only the rich and famous can afford. After twenty-seven years of enjoying 'the good life,' Lydia takes a new lover. More than two decades later, she is entrusted with the assets of her ailing lover's estate. Lydia fails to proceed with caution and gets robbed. The consequences may lead to poverty, homelessness, or perhaps murder.
