about this book: This book is a list of questions for the reader to interactively fill in all of the information about their dogs life. The purpose is to tell the next caregiver everything possible to make the transition of their dog as smooth as possible. The book is for every dog owner, because circumstances can arise whereby their dog may have to go to the care of someone else. Such events could happen because of health, financial problems, career moves, divorce, death or many other untold reasons that pop into our lives. If this book went with the dog to the next owner (whether through a shelter or other means) that new caregiver would know the dog's personality, nicknames, medical history, habits, and so on. If this book were never needed, the owner has a chronicle of their dog's life, memories and companionship.

The inspiration for this book came when Cathy's parents died. Her mother died first, then her father, Keith, a few months later. Some of Keith's last words were, "Take care of my dog". This turned out well for his dog "Mandy" because Cathy's brother was their parents caregiver for many years. This is when we started wondering about our dogs and what would happen to them if we could no longer take care of them. We felt that this was a thought that quietly flashes through the minds of all loving dog owners. We thought that there must be a book that would fill this need. After extensive research we found nothing on this subject, therefore we decided to write "If I Should Die Before My Dog". The title was taken from the old childrens' bedtime prayer changed to a dog lover's prayer.

We believe that the cover expresses the emotional loss and sadness that a dog must feel when it finds itself suddenly alone.

This book was written to celebrate your dog's life. Every dog owner should have a plan for their dog's future, just in case something unexpected happens. We know this book will give you comfort and peace of mind.
