Toni Noelabout this book: I'm a big fan of the how-to-decorate-your-home shows on HGTV, especially the ones no longer shown where a decorator would be invited into a home to rearrange the existing furniture to make the room more inviting, allowing it to be used more. I especially liked the shows about staging a house or condo for quick sale. The stager would throw out most of the homeowner's possessions and replace them with new selections from a huge furniture warehouse. All the rooms would then flow, and have a theme.
I learned so much from those decorators, and the stagers inspired Homeward Bound, the story of a home stager and the wealthy bachelor anxious to unload his too-big estate. I gave the manuscript this title right away, then life's ups and downs get forcing me to set the writing aside. My original plot grew and changed as I became better acquainted with my characters and fell in love with Luke, who is forced to take over the running of the family conglomerate when his father, the CEO suddenly dies. He hates everything about his life except the at-risk boys he tries to help.
His stager, Krista, grew up in foster homes and longs for a home of her own, so she pours her heart and soul into making Luke's home livable.
