about this book: MEN DANCING is the story of a married, mother-of-two scientist whose world tilts after a chance meeting with a charismatic male Royal Ballet dancer. I'd call it a darkly humorous romance.
It was my first novel, and like the main character, I was feverishly in love with ballet at the time, and looking for a more creative life. There were parts of the story that I found painful to write – for one section I had to check into a hotel and be away from the family – but the ballet research was hugely pleasurable and the story flowed easily.
Readers have enjoyed the dance in the novel, and Sir Bruce Forsyth, presenter of the TV show Strictly Come Dancing (the UK version of Dance With The Stars) endorsed it as "a great read for Strictly fans". But for me, the strength of the book lies in the honest recounting by the central character as she tries to cope with an obsessive love in addition to the other complex relationships in her life.
