Blackie Noir

Author Blackie Noirabout this book: BLACKTOP STYX is an action packed, neo noir, chase, crime thriller. Readers of James Lee Burke, Elmore Leonard, and fans of Quinton Tarantino's early crime films will find it especially gratifying. Female readers will find a strong empathetic touch-point with Blacktop's protagonist, a young woman named (appropriately) . . . Peril.

The title makes reference to the river "Styx." This mythological body of water must be crossed to enter "Hades," the land of the dead. Being that much of the novel's murderous mayhem plays out on the open road (blacktop), I felt the analogy appropriate.
I believe the cover is dead-on. Setting, tone, mood, and suspense . . . A curving, double yellow-line, stretch of blacktop disappearing into a malevolent fog.

about the book ....
.... Is BLACKTOP STYX really the "Highway To Hell?"

Or, is it a complex, convoluted, road to redemption?

Peril Giardello is about to find out. She's on a full-tilt run to save her life. Among those in hot pursuit: A legendary mercenary killer. An elite MMA cage fighter. A hulking, albeit charming, IRA terrorist. Two psychotic Asian street-thugs. And, a sharp-eyed sniper who can kill from a half mile out.

Peril has something. Something very valuable. Something that doesn't belong to her. Something that her pursuers are prepared to kill her for. Of that Peril has no doubt . . . they've already slaughtered her boyfriend.

But, there's one more hunter on her trail, her father, bad to the bone biker James "Jimmy Gee" Giardello.

Determined to find Peril before this psychopathic posse can run her to ground, Jimmy Gee has joined the fray. His plan? Get to Peril first. Jimmy's mind's made up, he's good to go. Stoked, amped, locked and loaded . . . and not all the gods in the heavens, nor all the demons in hell, can save anyone who gets in his way.
