Kate Eileen Shannonabout this book: I've been writing all my life. It started because back when my parents emigrated from Ireland there was no Facebook and texting like there is now so to keep in touch with my cousins, I had to write letters. And I took to it. I wrote very long, and I'm sure boring, letters about everything that was going on in my life. I also filled notebooks with whatever popped into my head – old school blogging! Later, when a friend of my sister's went into the army, he complained she never wrote. So I took over writing to this guy I didn't even know. I sent him long letters complete with illustrations. The illustrations later took over. Most of my adult life, until recently, my creative outlet was drawing, painting or sculpting. Then I was laid off from the day job in 2009 and with time on my hands, I discovered cozy mysteries and I was reading one every night. At one point I said to myself, I can do this, and so I started writing a book.
I didn't want anyone to know I was writing a book, so I started a blog as well, as cover. Dinner not started on time? "Oh, sorry, I just had to finish this blog post. " I sent it off to five publishers and three were interested. I narrowed down to one and finally told my husband and son I had written a book. Ultimately, I decided to self publish through CreateSpace and KDP because I didn't like the terms of the contract most new writers get. Particularly in the life of the copyright area. I guess I am too independent. Social Insecurity is the first in The Brigid Kildare Mystery Series. It will soon be followed by Meditated Murder and Dying Over Spilled Milk. I haven't got number four planned yet. And while I call it a series, it is more accurately a serial. You have to read it in order because I don't put in the backstory in subsequent books, they don't stand alone. Backstory in a series bores me and I skim it so I am doing this series my way.
"You'll love following super-sleuth Brigid Kildare as she tracks down the killer of her dear elderly tenants. Curl up with a cup of tea and enjoy!" Martha Reynolds, author of Chocolate Fondue
