Book: Journey to Die For by Radine Trees Nehring
categories: Book, Steamboat Travel, Stolen Antiquities, Train Adventure, Civil War, Kansas City Police, Van Buren, Cozy MysteryRadine Trees Nehring

The setting? An historic passenger train heading for Van Buren, Arkansas on the Arkansas River.
The characters? Carrie McCrite and Henry King, numerous train passengers, Chuck Dovish, host of the popular television program, "Exploring Arkansas" and his cameraman. Two men who are acting peculiarly for train passengers supposed to be enjoying the ride on an excursion train
Action? Carrie walking along the riverbank, picturing the days when river traffic consisted of steamboats and not tugs and barges. Then, a lump of rags half in and half out of the river turns out to be one of the men from the train.
In this manner Carrie and Henry find themselves involved in, not only a murder, but a theft ring that stretches through three states.
Note from the author: This story was fun to research and even more fun to write. What could be more entertaining? An historic town, founded in 1809. A steamboat carrying treasure that now lies at the bottom of the Arkansas River. Stolen museum treasures. An antique shop selling stolen treasures--supposedly from the steamboat. Lots for an author to enjoy imagining--most especially the gun battle in an antiques shop full of crystal and china (!!) (Hey, watch it!)
