Julie Ann Mallyabout this book: As my mother grew up in a crime boss family and around other crime boss families, she learned to make some of the best authentic Italian dishes, as well as other traditional dishes that were served to the most famous crime families in New York. This unique cookbook has recipes for her special Lasagna, Stuffed Mushrooms, Lemon and Parmesan Linguine, Lobster with Cognac Sauce, Chicken Cutlets in Marinara Sauce, and more.
My mother and I co-wrote this cookbook along with her autobiography, The Mobster's Daughter, shortly before she passed away. We both shared a love of cooking. And my mother would often make large trays of her special lasagna and give them as gifts to friends and neighbors. I loved her lasagna, and I'm so happy I can share her recipe here. She always made the sauce from scratch and would chop up all the veggies and fry up the sausage for it. The kitchen would have an amazing Italian restaurant smell.
We included recipes for cocktails and desserts. You can learn how to make my special noodle pudding. It's similar to bread pudding, except you use noodles. I included a variation for giving it a coffee mocha flavor. And a special variation for Pumpkin Noodle Pudding. It makes an amazing dessert, especially at holiday time.
A few of the recipes included come from my Aunt Maria, who was also a Mobster's Daughter. She was one of the best Italian cooks. Her food was amazing. And she used to serve some of the most famous crime families in New York these dishes. She passed away last year, but her recipes live on in this book.
