Donna B. McNicol

Author Donna B. McNicolabout this book: From the prequel short story, Lost and Found: Sarah Davidson is barely making it as a divorced, single mom in Chicago when her parents offer her a chance to move back to her rural hometown of Baxter Springs, Kansas. She looks forward getting back to a simpler lifestyle but her eight year old son, Brian, thinks differently. After Brian gets lost on his way home and they discover the joy of small town friendships and neighborly ways, they both change their mind.

Now that Sarah and Brian have decided to stay in Baxter Springs, it's time for them to forget their big city ways that set them apart from life in a new town. No city buses, no big movie cinemas, no street lights and no 911 service.

Sarah fears that Brian will grow bored and get into trouble but she has her own worries, like finding a job to support them. There isn't much call for waitresses in a town with one diner and a coffee shop. Good friends from her past try to help but even that can backfire.

Then there is the hunky sheriff who's also new to town, Carl Pierce, who seems to be quite interested in learning more about Sarah and her son. Recently divorced himself, can Carl and Sarah deny the sparks flying between them?

Unemployment, an ex-husband, old friends, a hot new flame and a tornado stir things up as Sarah tries to go home again.

• "Donna, what a wonderful tale you tell! I just finished "Home Again"...and wanted more! Are you thinking of a sequel?"

• "Well, you just got me in a whole lot of trouble, the dishes are still in the sink from last night 'cause I was reading your new book. Your descriptions of the people made me think I was back in the Midwest in my 'growing up' days. That might have been a made up town - but it sure sounded like my home town - right down to the diner on Main Street, can't wait for your next one."
