P.C. Zickabout this book: Stone Crandall broke away from his father's expectations by pursuing his childhood passion for anything that went fast. He eventually makes it to the biggest race of all, the Indy 500. He's a favorite to win but must attend too many social functions when all he wants to do is drive.
Tara Hartman, a Crandall family friend and event organizer, makes Stone's life tortuous while in Indianapolis because he's required to attend her events. Despite his disdain for schmoozing with sponsors, Stone begins to see Tara as more than his older sister's best friend.
The entire Crandall family descends on the Indy 500 along with Tara's estranged parents. Fireworks ensue when Tara and Stone are caught kissing in a hallway by their parents. It's a uproarious mess and too much of a distraction for Stone who tells Tara they'd better cool things.
Then his head is turned by all the attention and adulation from the public and media. Tara is sickened by it.
An accident changes everything for these two who have feelings for one another. And each family member has their own opinion as well. The family's learn to let go, so Stone and Tara can find the road back.
