Lily Ennisabout this book: This book is about the reunion of Lana and Paul after more than twenty years. Lana was a musician which saw her living overseas playing in the great music halls while Paul roamed the globe as a volcanologist. When Lana's life turns she returns to New Zealand to try something new. That something was geology. The fire that is their rekindled romance is the core of the book.
But lots of other things are going on: Some characters are up to no good having stolen some war medals and those baddies cross paths with our hero and heroine.
The war links beautifully to another character and there are flash backs to New Zealand's battle of Cassino.
Having just completed my Earth Science degree I wanted to write about volcanoes. The action in the book all happens in a place I know particularly well. My goal was to introduce readers to science without them realising they were actually learning. I think I succeeded as people tell me they couldn't put the book down (and they wouldn't do that with a text book).
