Consulting 101 provides tips on career management, professional etiquette, personal branding, communication, and client relations.
After many years in the consulting industry, I began to notice something about new consultants. They knew their job well. Whether it was computer programming or marketing, the industry knowledge was usually pretty good. The problem was that they didn't understand the consulting industry well. They didn't know how to communicate with clients and the basic etiquette required. They didn't know how to manage their career within the firm to get the attention of the right people. Most of them were pretty smart people. They just didn't know what they didn't know.
I wrote Consulting 101 for anyone who was considering consulting as a career. I felt it was important to help people get started in this industry and set themselves up for success.
