Alex Amiesabout this book: This book is about developing applications that leverage cloud computing technology and running them on the cloud. The primary readers of the book will be software developers looking for an affordable way to host and scale their application to support a business service. The book tells the story of developing a cloud application, starting with cloud concepts, explaining basic use of the cloud, using development tools, using cloud application programming interfaces, security, application services, metering and monitoring, and business support services. For the last three years I have been developing a public cloud hosted at http://www.ibm.com/cloud/enterprise.
I got started writing the book by answering many questions that people came to me asking if a certain thing was possible or how to solve a certain problem. Some of the problems had easy answers, some had much harder answers, and some required a change in mindset. In most cases I learned something and put it down into a set notes that became a book. I had a lot of help from the other software developers that I work with on a day-to-day basis that I need to give credit to.
