Book: The Mercenary's Marriage by Rachel Rossanocategories: Book, Fantasy, Novella, Mercenary, Arranged Marriage, Non-Magical, Clean Medieval Romance
Rachel Rossanoabout this book: The Mercenary's Marriage takes place in a non-magical fantasy world. Darius, a mercenary in the service of Braulyn's king, is touched by the fate of a slave girl after the fall of her former master and enemy of Darius' master. Darius claims her as his share of the loot and marries her that same night. As expected, the marriage doesn't start smoothly. Brice's past keeps them apart. The story focuses on their journey to trusting each other against the backdrop of intrigue and deception.
Although only a novella, The Mercenary's Marriage explores the themes of meekness, strength, kindness, and trust in the context of a romantic relationship.
Written in only nine months, the manuscript was one the smoothest projects I have ever written and only the second published. The character of Darius sprang to mind in the midst of one of the hardest periods of my life. Writing this book helped me work through so much despite the content having little to do with the situation.
I hope readers can enjoy this story for what it is, a momentary escape in to a world very different from our own.
A clean/sweet romance, the book contains no bedroom scenes and minimal kissing. The story focuses more on the development of trust between the two main characters.
