Malcom Masseyabout this book: The black market in looted antiquities collides with explosive Middle East tensions in this sixth novel in The Martin Culver Series entitled,"The Lost Library of Alexandria".
Lost to the world since the 5th century A.D., the collected wisdom and knowledge contained in the Great Library of Alexandria has been found, and is being perverted as part of a plan for world domination and destruction. Directly connected to the artifact smuggling pipelines from around the world, the center of this renewed ancient activity is hidden in plain sight under the noses of Coalition troops attempting to keep the lid on the Iraq powderkeg.
Martin Culver finds himself drawn into this conflicted scenario in an effort to rescue his chief CIA ally in the ongoing war against looting-funded conflict around the world. At the same time, Culver seeks to put an end to those who would destroy his family, his colleagues and his organization, the International Antiquities Foundation. Culver finds that seeking revenge is not an easy path, requiring him to dig deep for the motivation and courage to soldier on.
"The Lost Library of Alexandria" offers an exciting armchair excursion into a despised and disputed area of the world, with glimpses into history that move across 4000 years of time into today's headlines.
This novel is truly the sequel to "The Sword of Stonehenge", with the action picking up within hours of each other. I have always been intrigued by the mystery of what happened to the scrolls and materials at the Library of Alexandria. Were they destroyed in a fire, were they hidden away? Such mysteries offer excellent material for fiction writers.
Anyone who likes action adventure, international intrigue or spy thrillers will enjoy this novel, as well as the entire Martin Culver Series. The research that went into this novel, from historical research for everything from languages to military equipment and current technology, actually took longer to complete than the actual writing of the novel.
Each novel that I write teaches me something about myself, an attitude to avoid, a pitfall to not step into. I have learned to appreciate history for the lessons taught.
