Luana Ehrlichabout this book: I was inspired to write One Night in Tehran, after I heard about the persecution of Christians in Iran about five years ago. Because I've always been an avid reader of mysteries and thrillers, I knew my first book would be in this genre. However, when I heard about the Iranian Christians, I began asking several questions, which eventually became the plotline of the book. I wondered what would happen if a veteran CIA intelligence operative in Tehran encountered a group of Iranian Christians and became a believer. How would his conversion affect his career? How would a man trained to lie and deceive others be able to follow the teachings of Christ in the real world?
While my Titus Ray Thrillers do have a faith element as a continual thread running throughout the books, they are primarily espionage fiction. However, I do market my books under the Christian category, and I do this primarily because there are so few Christian thrillers out there.
Here's a brief synopsis of One Night in Tehran:
CIA intelligence officer, Titus Ray, finds shelter with a group of Iranian Christians following a botched mission to recruit assets inside Tehran. Compelled by their unwavering faith, the veteran covert operative becomes a believer before he manages to escape to Turkey.
Upon returning to the States, he discovers his Iranian mission failed because of political infighting within the Agency. In a hot-tempered outburst, he delivers a scathing indictment against the Deputy Director of Operations, and the deputy forces Titus to take a year's medical leave in Oklahoma.
Before leaving Langley, however, he discovers a Hezbollah hit man has targeted him for assassination. Now, while trying to figure out what it means to be a follower of Christ, he must decide if the Iranian couple he meets in Oklahoma has ties to the man who's trying to kill him, and if Nikki Saxon, a beautiful local detective, can be trusted with his secrets.
