Book: The First Ladies Club by J.B. Hawker
categories: Book, Parsonage Life, Pelican Bay Prison, Oregon Coast, Kidnapping, Pastor's Wife, Christian ThrillerJ.B. Hawker

Along with the fictional adventures of this eclectic group of women, you will get a glimpse of authentic parsonage life. As a pastor's wife for more than twenty years, living in church housing in small towns from Alaska to South Dakota, I know whereof I write.
In some congregations, the minister's wife is referred to as the First Lady. This is very appropriate for a woman so much under the scrutiny of her husband's flock, not unlike the US President's wife, on a much smaller scale.
This first book centers on the newest member of the group, Naidenne Davidson. Naidenne hasn't been married to her pastor husband very long and turns to the club for emotional support and practical guidance in her new role.
The book is a Christian thriller. Christian because, as pastors' wives, all the protagonists are believers and thriller, because of the nature of the perils Naidenne faces and the horrific experiences she undergoes during the course of the story. Although the book contains murder, mayhem and mirth, along with quirky characters and a small-town ambience, the intensity of some of the scenes lift it out of the cozy tradition.
Readers of the Bunny Elder Adventure series will recognize some of the characters who were introduced in "Seadrift" book three of that series. Bunny may pop in on some of her old friends from time to time, as well.
You are invited to step into Naidenne's drafty parsonage, pull up a faded chintz rocker, sip tea from a chipped china cup and nibble on shortbread...but don't get too relaxed, for a murderous escaped convict may be lurking just outside.
