Donna J. Bensonabout this book: Where do we go when our country falls into chaos and persecution begins? George and Elizabeth receive a vision of a sanctuary for believers. It is a community similar to a commune where all work together for their survival. After winning the lottery, they purchase the land for sanctuary or retreat. When new employee Janie dreams of a sanctuary ranch, she makes a complete blueprint of a mountain valley she has never seen. When the plans come to George, the building begins. As the community grows, can they work together for the survival of all? Will harmony prevail or will they too fall into chaos?
Flee to the Mountains came from my vision of what could become of our country. In several verses in the Bible, God's people are told to flee to the mountains when troubles come. This is where I got the title. The cover came from my idea of what the valley might look like with the small community next to a lake. Writing the book came in stages. I had the general idea, but it took on a life of its own as each scene unfolded. The characters became alive in my mind, each with his or her own personality.
If you can't go to the store and buy things, what would you do? I want the book to inform readers how they could prepare for difficult times in our country. I wanted them to think about what seeds to purchase, how many canning jars and lids they might need, what food they could store ahead, what off grid electrical systems they could use, what about medical supplies, and much more. This book is fiction, but what if the unthinkable happened in the country? Could you and your family survive? Do you know like-minded people with whom you can band together? The goal of the book is to get people to think about and prepare for challenging times. If they come you will be ready, if they don't you and your family will have a good supply ahead.
