Rai Lindsay-Wallaceabout this book: This book is about people who are held captive by their past; people who are in bondage to people or by things that have happened to them; people who appear free on the outside, yet imprisoned by unseen bars that are holding them back.
I was so inspired by my study of Luke 4:18, that the Freedom Series was birthed, No Longer Captive, being the first book. Jesus came to preach the Gospel to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captive, recovery of sight to the blind and to set at liberty those who are oppressed..." Simply put, God wants His people to be free. Free from whatever it is that holds us back from being the best we can be. You don't have to be behind bars to be imprisoned. Many people sit in the pews, Sunday after Sunday, smiling, while their hearts are captive.
Although this book is entertaining, it is also inspiring. The two main characters, Jonah and Kayla, come from two diferent worlds, and yet they share a common bond...their hearts are captive. They both have skeletons in their closets. Through a journey of healing, forgiveness, and making peace with the past, they discover that love truly does cover a multitude of sin and that real freedom is found in Jesus Christ.
Note: It took me approximately 7 months to write this book. The more I wrote, the more I realize that we all, at some point in our lives, were in captivity, imprisoned in our minds, hearts, and spirits. We all have to learn to let go and let God be in control. Let go of the past (including people) and live in the present, so we can enjoy the future...totally free!
The cover represents the main characters, no longer captive or behind bars, but now in a total state of freedom, looking up, giving God all the glory.
