Carol Grace Strattonabout this book: After a failed marriage career crash and an underwater mortgage, single mom Ally Cervantes heads to her aunt's house in Northern Michigan to survive. With her precocious daughter wanting to go to camp, Ally reluctantly takes the camp cook job so she can bring her autistic son with her to work. She encounters obstacles she can't conquer but which leads her to a God who has tenaciously pursued her.
My story is full of forgiveness and how it opens doors to life's joys. I hope my readers can experience the breadth of God's mercy and forgiveness as they follow Ally's journey.
Writing this story was one of the most enjoyable and strenuous things I've ever put down on paper. I became attached to the characters as they became my friends. I worried about them and thought about their lives... especially the life of a woman who has an autistic son to raise.
I spent 2 years as a teacher's aide in an autistic classroom and these kids are special to me. My desire is to honor them and the parents who work so hard to raise them. Putting the whole story in a camp just seemed the best setting because wonderful things happen at camp, especially an blue-green lake in Northern Michigan.
