Heather Grayabout this book: Mary, the heroine from Just Dessert, first makes a cameo appearance in Mail Order Man, Book One in the Ladies of Larkspur series. The prologue of Just Dessert is built from that cameo. The book opens with Mary at a dessert auction, hoping to find a potential suitor to bid on her strawberry pie. She is the oldest of five children and responsible for her brothers and sisters. Their father, a violent man by nature, has become increasingly volatile, and Mary knows she must get her siblings away from him in order to keep them safe...even if it means marrying a man 92 years old and toothless. She's determined to do whatever it takes to protect them. When her father shows up drunk at the auction, though, and makes a scene that lands him in jail, Mary must construct another plan. Little does she know that circumstances beyond her control are already working to bring a solution to her doorstep and hope to her heart.
