Rai Lindsay-Wallaceabout this book: Sunset Sunrise reminds us that no matter how dark it may be in our lives, the morning will come and the sun will rise again - thus the Title. Sometimes, the nighttime truly is the right time - because it represents the old life ending and a new life beginning. Jasmine was truly experiencing a nighttime of abuse, betrayal, heartache, suffering and so much more. Darkness covered her. Jasmine, liken to a bird trapped in a cage, depended on the hands of her captor to feed her and give her just enough to sustain her. However, Jasmine wanted to be free. Free from the cage. Free from her captor. Free to spread her wings and fly to a better place. After all, Jesus came to set the captives free! When was it going to be her time to be free?
This book deals with abuse - both mentally and physically. Jasmine was being abused by her boyfriend. However, it didn't start with him. She experienced abuse by the hands of her mother all throughout her childhood. Oftentimes, the cycle of abuse goes back for many generations. Like Jasmine, it just takes one person in the family, to say enough is enough! I was created for more than this! I deserve more than this! No matter what it takes, I'm going to break the cycle...not just for me, but the ones following after me.
My prayer is that the reader will find hope, peace, self-worth, love, healing and to know that he/she is never alone. God will make a way of escape for you and no matter how dark it is in your life...the sun will arise again. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy is coming in the morning!
