Erin Greeneabout this book: These are tales that I made up for my kids when they were younger, harkening back to the styles of the Wizard of Oz and the older Golden Books. I made up the original idea, of an Island where it's always fall, and as they would ask questions about it, I would add information. For example, one of my daughters was sad to learn that, since it's always fall, there's no summer vacation from school! But the kids on the Island get a whole week off for Halloween and for Thanksgiving, which are always on a Friday and a Saturday, respectively. I also had a contest on my Facebook page for a character name and so I have characters like Pumpkin Jack, the Green Man and The Mary That Wouldn't.
It was a fun literary device for me to narrate the book not as the supposed originator of the stories but that I was just relating them as told to me by "The Green Man", an idea I got from the story of the Pied Piper, but with a happier ending.
Each of the short stories in this book comes with a moral or teaching. I hope that the readers will be able to relate to the characters and the book is written for kids at least ten years old, though those "young at heart" should enjoy it as well.
