Dawn Bondabout this book: This is a book from the 'My Hidden Monsters' series of children's picture books. These books are centred around a small boy who has the misfortune of being followed around by different very naughty monsters! It's not his fault that things get broken at home, it's also not his fault that paper planes are thrown at school and drawing pins appear on the teachers chairs and it's certainly not his fault that all the cakes get eaten and balloons popped at the parties he attends... or is it???
In this book the first of the series, Dawn opens up to the reader the mind of this child within the home environment. The Flumuck, a rather large and pathetic looking creature is very cumbersome and clumsy, the boy would much rather not have him around much less be told off constantly for The Flumuck's naughty behaviour! Will the boy ever be able to convince his parents of his own innocence and eventually show that the monster is really there causing mayhem at home?
The book's are primarily aimed at 2-6 year olds, although the young at heart would also appreciate the humour and beautiful illustrations in the stories.
Dawn was inspired to write these books once her father became ill and was diagnosed with Cancer two years ago. He was an outstanding story teller and would often come up with stories at bedtime for his three girls and later his grandchildren. Dawn had always spoke of writing a book and was encouraged by him to do so.
This book grew from a nickname that Dawn gave her eldest son, he being the original Flumuck as he is so very clumsy at times. From the idea to the final stage, Dawns father was regularly approached for is advice and comments, right up to the day before he died when he could see his name in the dedications and muttered the word 'Flumuck' for the very last time.
Needless to say that Peter Bond who died on the 1st of May 2013 is very much missed by his family and all his many, many friends. Dawn has a mission of making this series a success in his memory, as he wished and is starting firstly as ebooks with the hope of being able to publish if the market calls for it.
Note from Dawn. . . I would love any feedback for this book and if you feel it should be available in paperback? Please visit my page on facebook, make a comment, and review the book if you can. I hope you enjoy reading this to your children and that it captures their own imagination!
