Paul Proctorabout this book: My family is a biracial family. My wife was born in Korea (Asian) and I am Caucasian of European decent. We met in college and fell in love, got married, and made three beautiful babies. We decided that we wanted to participate in the microcosms popping up all over the country celebrating biracial and biethnic families.
"I'm Half: My Daddy is American, My Mommy is Korean" is loosely based on our family, and seeks to promote awareness of our cultural heritage. We know that 15% of all new marriages in the U.S. are biracial marriages and it makes sense that we as a people begin to tell our biracial children stories of their heritage and show them images of children that look like them through media. The "I'm Half" project is about more than just telling a story, it is about furthering an ideal of acceptance and love of all people. It is difference, regardless of its form, that makes humanity beautiful.
