Ian Kayeabout this book: Inspired by the tales which lie in wait around most street corners on the coast.I attempted to create a treasure hunt book with what I think is a difference. Names from the past such as Cruel Peg Fyfe, Georg (or Snooker) Fagg sprang out from the pages of history along with the name of one of the most feared of the Yorkshire coast pirates Edward Pennel.
Using a pirate or smuggler theme pairs of images were created.
Starting with the first pair of images readers must find the number of differences between the images. This in turn leads to a square on a grid which corresponds with that number. Each square contains a letter. Upon completion (if the reader has been successful) the location of the hidden treasure will be revealed.
Although this is a departure from The Shellies books, it has been fun creating the work. More illustrations, less text! Based on a spot the difference theme, the twist is that 'readers have to crack a code' to find the location.
