William C Wheelerabout this book: Drake is shy and has difficulty interacting with others. In his first book "Drake," he deals with his lack of being exciting enough to keep his friend's interests. Concerned about why his friends seem to be uninterested in him, he decides to go on his own adventure, but finds out that his friends are more needed than he thinks.
This children's book, combined with "Robert" and "Franklin," are about three friends. The first in a series, these books are set up telling the same story, but from each individual's perspective. Similar to real life, each is a protagonist, and others are the antagonists. While no individual has bad intentions, how they appear to act is as much a part of the individual who experiences it.
The desire to write these books came from the idea that a character who is a sphere would have a hard time staying still, while other shapes would be more stable. Having lived and worked with many who's minds tend to wander, setting up a story to tell all three sides was something I wanted to try.
These books are intended for children between 2 and 5. Since kids like reading the same books repeatedly, telling the same story from three different perspectives can help them understand people. As the books are intended for children, and to be read more than once, the hope is for parents to read all three to the children and compare how the different characters interact.
