Anna C. Morrisonabout this book: Green Gooey Goop sprouts from my morning meals of what my son likes to call "Liquid Spinach." Whenever I would ask my son if he wanted a drink of my green smoothie, he would imagine all sorts of terrible ingredients that might be in there, and he would complain about the smell. Even though he knows it is important to be healthy, he didn't want to try any unfamiliar food or drink. In my efforts to steer my son and I to nutritious foods, I met with his imaginative resistance, which I turned into a children's picture book. In this book, Green Gooey Goop, a little girl is presented with a green concoction instead of her normal pb&j sandwich. Her reaction to this food is what the book is about, which I hope will open the door to conversations between parents and children about trying nutritious food instead of eating the same thing every day that might not be the best for us. Since my goal is to provide parents and children with fun reading materials to share, Green Gooey Goop fulfills this goal and adds an extra element: nutrition.
