about this book: "The Enchanted River Race" was written with the intent of creating something that is adventurous and imaginative, yet accessible to the young reader. Although the plot is full of unique settings and situations, the language is simple enough for an elementary school student to read.
The plot revolves around a team of children chosen to represent their village district in an enchanted river race. The team is led by the quiet, eleven-year-old Amy Lorovia. To help her team defeat the magical challenges, such as getting past a horde of vicious sharks, Amy learns she must overcome her fears and become a leader.
My hope is that children will realize they have the capabilities to overcome obstacles in their own life after reading "The Enchanted River Race." I also hope the story's plot inspires the imagination of the reader. As great as modern media is, to a certain extent, I feel it can encroach on the imagination that is so important for childhood development.
