Art Saborioabout this book: This book is about how to choose the right cat breed for you, your family or as a companion for an existing pet. I wrote this book, because I wanted to help people avoid the issues of having a "cat from hell" situation. Most issues with cats are basically choosing the wrong breed for a home or lifestyle.
Cats have personalities and behavior traits that are directly related to their breed. For example, putting a cat that needs a lot of attention in a household where the family is out for a majority of the day will result in a lot of behavioral issues that are not easily solved. In the end most owners will remove the cat from the home.
The same can be said about cats that are not very friendly to other cats. Conflicts will quickly arise as the two will fight to see who will dominate. There are also cat breeds that will hurt small children. All this is covered in the book.
This book helps match a breed with the lifestyle of the owner. It comes with descriptions, photos and things to watch out for during your search.
This book is ideal for a person is thinking of getting their first cat or adding a second cat or more to their household.
I spent three months researching this book to come up with the material within. I spent many hours wading through reference books, speaking to specialist and watching media on the topic. The hardest part was narrowing down the list of cats to those that would be of interest to a first time cat owner or someone who wanted to add a cat to a household where an existing dog or cat lived.
Although I knew quite a bit about cats and their behaviors, I learned at a greater depth after writing this book. Understanding individual breeds is one thing, but taking this a step further and defining their relationships between other pets including dogs, small children, adults and the elderly was an eye opening experience.
After completing this book I was happy to have spent the time to write it and hope that it can service as a reference for my readers for many years to come.
