Nina Binghamabout this book: This is a manual for caregivers and therapists who are supporting clients with BPD. It is also written to help family members, partners, and the BPD clients themselves. This book introduces a completely new therapuetic approach to treatment of BPD. This revolutionary approach is called, "CCCT", which stands for, "Challenges, Consequences & Commitment Therapy." It is a 3-step process that includes isolating the challenges that the BPD individual faces, working collabratively with the BPD client to highlight the consequences of each choice, and finally, gaining a firm committment to the right choice and plan of action that the BPD client has decided upon. A simple, streamlined, yet suprisingly affective approach to treatment of BPD based on best-practice empirical research.
I authored this book after exhaustive research into BPD, but more importantly, I was the caregiver to several BPD people for a number of years, and then I married a BPD person. Years of being the primary caregiver taught me that BPD is difficult to treat because the BPD suffers from "mind-blindness," what is a deficit in comprehending how thier actions effect others. In the 16 years that I was a mental health therapist I applied CCCT with great professional success.
