Daniel Allen DuBourabout this book: Life's Attractions is a biography of a gay man's life and everyone who contributed to the man who grew up to be. All facts are true to the best of my knowledge. I was inspired to write the book as a result of thinking back of my own life and searching for reasons for the way I am today.
The beginning of the book finds this individual at birth when he first lays eyes on his mother. She is his first attraction; her beautiful face, her pleasant smile, and her soft spoken words. Love was immediate from that moment on, throughout his entire life.
As he grew to school age, he found it difficult at first to be somewhere other than with his mother. He did not interact with other children in the kindergarten classroom. First grade was a little better for the first month until his teacher quit her job and the class was divided in half to two other teachers. The shock of a new teacher caused the character to not want to go to school. He skipped school, hiding in the cellar of their home during school hours. Consequently he had missed enough school in the first grade; he had to repeat the grade the following year.
The boy continued growing and learning all through his school years, finally graduating from high school. During his school years he had encounters from older brothers and some adults who he thought were giving him the love he so desperately needed.
Every encounter, whether with an adult or a boy his own age were usually of a sexual nature, but not everyone. The simplicity of the way of thinking was that of love and being loved, and so it became a way of life. Many more encounters well into adulthood both with a sexual nature or only friendship to this very day.
