Author Mariam Cheshireabout this book: Continuation of "Worries Won't Happen - Fred's Story".

When Fred made that disastrous dive into the swimming pool at the age of 32, he was divorced, so I moved back into his life. It was not a sacrifice. Being of use would be the only way I could handle the hurt. For six months I spent the days at the hospital and the evenings handling paperwork.

I continued to marvel at my son's attitude, never looking back, never giving up. Learning how to handle quadriplegia and living in a wheelchair takes patience, not one of Fred's stronger qualities. When he accepted that he needed other people to be of constant help, he learned how to make lemonade out of those sour lemons.

Always a teacher, he moved into new fields. After bringing computers to his school, he added people with disabilities to his circle of those to help. He built the wheelchair accessible Bed and Breakfast in Mexico, opened "Computer Horizons" when computers first entered the scene and enjoyed scuba diving in Mexico.

I only heard him cry twice. On the second occasion he said, "Mom, she dumped me." His description of that FLAMING romance is included, as well as the stories of sad love until he met his Magy.

He left Magy and me at the age of 72 on September 22, 2017. Before the service, when we talked about donations instead of flowers, my sister suggested, "Help his students." We now have an endowed fund with donations and royalties from all of my books going to the Dr. Fred Cheshire Scholarship for students at Glendale (Phoenix) College.

Te amo, mi hijo, mas de lo que tas palabras pueden decir.
