Mary Vigliante Szydlowskiabout this book: Arthur is a young Canada goose who is migrating for the first time. But Arthur has problems. Flight school is tough. Getting off the ground isn't nearly as easy as it looks. Worse still, he hates flying in V formation! It's boring! Arthur would rather fly in circles. Or do swoops and dives. He wants to take time to enjoy the scenery. Or fly off by himself to grab a quick snack or explore. Arthur stubbornly refuses to follow the flock's rules. He wants to do what he wants to do, and when he doesn't get his way, he whines, pouts, and sulks. He keeps getting into trouble, much to the dismay of his family and flock. Along the way, Arthur learns how dangerous power lines, decoys, hunters, and windmills can be. He also encounters delicious donuts, stampeding children, an angry old lady, a nasty grey gander, a raging river, and a terrifying waterfall. But it's only when he's separated from his flock and is forced to spend a scary night alone that Arthur regrets his bad behavior, and decides to change his ways.
