Petri Rahikkalaabout this book: Bangkok is more and more popular tourist destination and yet people do not have the basic information about the city or life inside of it.
The book is aimed to people heading Bangkok for the first time or those who want to know more about the city. I wrote the book after visiting and living in the Bangkok many times thru the years. Materials are compiled from my experience, photographs taken myself and other relevant information refined from public sources.
I found out that common travel guides often recommend same restaurants or accommodations which then get too popular and quality goes down. Hotels start to attract burglars, food quality in restaurants go down after huge popularity. After all, those are always up to each persons preferences. Also the book does not recommend where to eat or sleep so that it wont compete guides like Lonely Planet etc. instead I tell you information like how to avoid most common scams (safe more money than books price), what essential foods to taste, how to use public transport systems, understand local culture and way of life, understand role of Buddhism in local people's life. Where are all major shopping centers, galleries and districts, what there is and how to get there.
