Susan A. Melaabout this book: Memoirs of a Brooklyn Chic is my story, my life growing up in Brooklyn during the 60's to the present day. To say it was painful to go back in time and dig up some of the most horrible moments in my life AND finding new horrible secrets in the present is an understatement. The reason I did so was not so much to just write about my story, but to give other young girls and women a "heads up" on what "not to do" in picking friends and boyfriends, even husbands.
My purpose and inspiration in writing this book was to inspire others and educate women of all ages to love yourself. If I had loved myself from an early age, this book would not have "needed" to be written and my journey in this life would have taken a different path. The events that take place from early days to the present year 2013 have been filled with much disappointments, sadness and loss. A question I keep asking myself: Will I ever find inner peace and love, still haunts me today.
