Cheryl Carpinelloabout this book: The King's Ransom (Young Knights of the Round Table) was my second book. Spurred by my classroom success using Arthurian Legend with my high school students, I wanted to create a story that ages 11-14 would enjoy and feel a part of the characters.
The three protagonists (Gavin 11, Philip 13, & Bryan 15) of The King's Ransom are confronted with the arrest of a good friend for murder and thief. They vow to clear him in spite of the hurdles in their way. They view this challenge as the opportunity to prove they are worthy to be Knights of the Round Table. By no means an easy task, the three have to confront their fears in the process. And for some, that fear may be the biggest hurdle.
Gavin, Philip, and Bryan struggle with the same problems of kids today: Finding out who they are and their place in world. And one character, reveals the biggest surprise of the three.
Embedded in my Arthurian Legend stories are the cornerstones of the Legend: Honor, Loyalty, and Friendship.
