Author Brenda Perlinabout this book: Alex the Mutt taught me unconditional love. She changed my world in so many ways. Because she was in a kill shelter, she almost didn't get a chance to live.

I started writing this story for a dog named Ty that we rescued this last year. We had to give him up which was the worst feeling in the world but the rescue organization Westside German shepherd made sure they would find him the RIGHT home. With us he was like a caged animal. We couldn't give him the life he so deserved. There are angels all around you. I learned that from this experience.

Alex the Mutt, "From Death Row to Cozy Home."

Alex the Mutt was the love of my life, but she could have been euthanized before having had a chance to live. Please join me on my journey to find love, and the emotional conflict I endured when forced to leave a dog behind.

These strays deserve more. All it takes is compassion and understanding. Too many animals are killed before their time, and this has got to end now. If only more people would stop and think first before going to a pet store or breeder. Instead, visit a local rescue, pound, or shelter. It's time to be their voice; please help spread the word. Will you join the cause?

Saving rescue dogs

Mary Ann Bernal

by author Mary Ann Bernal

Alex the Mutt is a heartwarming story about the fate of dogs in shelters and pounds. The author recalls her first experience with owning a dog, sharing incidents, which is endearing. You do not have to be an animal lover to read this book or to understand the emotional complexities over the loss of a pet. I enjoyed this book.
