Book Review: Beautiful Joe - An Autobiography of a Dog by Marshall Saunderscategories: Books, Children's Books, Animal Shelter

Beautiful Joe - A Fond Childhood MemoryAs I have not read "Beautiful Joe" since the age of 12 (now 54) I will not comment on it's use of grammar nor overt moral standing of the author. It's impact on my thoughts and the way that I treat people and animals was formed after reading this classic. It may seem "out dated" by some, but what it teaches us of the Golden Rule will and must never go out of date.
I just teased a friend about docking lambs tails tonight and because all her pets have been Manx cats or Border Collies-all with no tails I remembered the story about BJ and how he lost his ears and tail. I hope more people give this book to their children at an age where they can understand the meanings behind the story and create their own memories about kindness towards all those around them-human or animal.
