Will Lowreyabout this book: "Words on a Killing" was written based on a very personal experience witnessing a slaughter at a slaughterhouse. The story is my attempt to convey the sights, sounds, and emotions of such an experience to those who may never witness something of that nature. Our food production system in this country is intentionally obscured and my hope is that, through words, I can pull back some of the covers. I know many are squeamish to watch videos of animal slaughtered so I hope that black and white words may be more palatable for some.
The story tells the tale of one cow sent to slaughter in a New England slaughterhouse. While the story is of one cow, her plight resonates across millions around this country. My hope is that the reader will read the book thoughtfully and reflect on their personal views of the message within. I am appreciative of any readers who take the time to read this book. Words hold power.
