Debra Elise Miller

Author Debra Elise Millerabout this book: In order to maintain my sanity, I decided to write. Once my choice to take care of my aging father was made, the life change began–for me. I am of the belief that laughing is better than not and so there is an attempt at humor. Have I succeeded? The best result is that you will like it and learn something useful in the process. If you don't like it, because it is short and cheap, you won't loose much time or money.

I started writing a blog on the topic. The short form suited my writing style and abilities. The title went through a few changes, but finally the pun aspect of the Assisted Loving/Living followed by a lengthly subtitle (which is a mouthful) won me over.

After a year or so, I happened upon the idea of gathering the writing into an Ebook. Although that metamorphosis took much longer than I had anticipated (another year), I learned many new skills in the process. I learned that you can design a simple cover with the KDP(Amazon) templates provided; that you can purchase an ISBN and Copyright on-line; that you can build your own website–it won't be beautiful but it will do. I started a Twitter presence; I annoyed my friends on Facebook, asking them to "Like" my book page. I started a Weekly Update Email, learning to use Mailchimp. I could have out sourced all this work, but I am not that type of person. I like to learn new skills and there is a great feeling of satisfaction in knowing that, with the exception of "hiring" my literate friend to edit (she will be getting unlimited gluten-free cakes for life), I did everything my self.

Knowing that many other people are or will be in my exact situation, I wanted my distinct diverse point of view to be represented in the upcoming plethora of books on the subject. My hope is that non-gay people will read this book, just as I read non-gay authors.

Thanks for reading!
