Playing the game is a story about three college students. Marcus Harris is the level headed one that keeps his friends in line. Life for Marcus and his crew was going well until a brawl in a night club changes their life forever. Marcus finds himself caught up in a life of crime dealing with his home boy Tyrone and the freight organization. Al Freight is one of Chicago's crime lords that recruit young men to rob the freight-liners. Tyrone and his temper will lead Marcus and his crew down a path of death and destruction. Marcus wants no part of it, but has no other choice and follows his crew. Marcus is in deep after witnessing a murder that binds him tighter to the freight organization. Marcus will have to call on his dad Tony Harris a former prison inmate that turned his life around. Tony grew up with AL Freight and knows what he is capable of, he is determined to get his son out of the game. The problem is Tony has beef with Al after he left him holding the bag for a robbery that cost Tony his family and fourteen years of hard time. Can Tony save Marcus and his friend in time or will he die trying.

Avid ReaderI read this book in about a week and what I liked about the book is the characters who are believable. I like how the author takes everyday people and show you how a simple altercation can turn into something deadly. This was a good read from the beginning to the end. [by L. Oliver]
