Connie Spittlerabout this book: POWERBALL 33 weighs the value of a simple life in a small town against suddenly acquiring big mooney. My research involved mostly buying lottery tickets and sadly, didn't win. But lots of conversations with our family about what we'd do if we won. As far as location for the book, growing up in a small town, I simply looked back into days spent in S. D.
I'm a published author of nature essays, but I write memoir, creative nonfiction, poetry too. As far as inspiration for POWERBALL 33, I watched a TV interview with a lottery winner, and later on in this winner's life, he was interviewed again. I didn't write his story, but I could saw acres of possibilities for strange and amazing things happening to some who acquires a huge bankroll overnight.
The hero is a young poet/handyman who wins the lottery and faces problems and strangers as he watches chaos erupt in his small town.
